About us

History

Resource and Analysis Center “Society and Environment” is a think-tank non-profit organization focusing on environmental policy and law research, capacity building and implementation of innovative initiatives in Ukraine and regionally (Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia). The Center was founded in 2006.

We see independent research, assessment and study as our key methods that produce ground for changes by identifying a problem and its solutions. We see the capacity-building of environmental NGOs as an important requisite for building civil society through enabling NGOs to pursue their missions. Providing them with relevant information, skills and knowledge is important to us. Through the implementation of innovative projects, we strive to promote the introduction of the best innovative experiences and ideas.

Our Сenter today

The main planning document of our work is the Strategic Plan for 2023-2026, which defines the strategic goals and objectives of the organization in their thematic and organizational dimensions. The plan also contains specific qualitative and quantitative indicators for measuring progress in achieving the strategic goals. The strategic plan was prematurely revised because of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the need for post-war reconstruction and restoration of Ukraine, as well as obtaining the status of a candidate country for the EU.

We stand for transparency and openness regarding the financing and cooperation of the Center.

Since the establishment of the organization, we have been cooperating with a number of national and international partners. They include the Think Tank Fund (Open Society Institute), Sigrid Rausing Trust, European Commission, OECD, UN ECE, International Renaissance Fund, Black Sea Regional Cooperation Fund (a project of the German Marshall Fund), the World Bank, Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Heinrich Böll Foundation, GIZ, and many others.
